Making the point of care a safer place
For the past five years, Mike has built a consulting practice focused on clinical technologies, especially those used at the point of care. Operating both independently and in partnership with associates, Mike has consulted to leading hospitals and health systems. 
Over the years, Mike has closely worked with many pioneers of point of care applications.  Mike is a recognized authority on clinical point of care technologies and is the lead author of the Neuenschwander Report To the Bedside 2:  An Expanded Review of Bar Code Point of Care Solutions, and a contributing author to several HIMSS publications on Auto-ID and medication management technology. In addition, Mike is an accomplished speaker and has played a pivotal role at industry conferences such as The unSUMMIT for Bedside Barcode Technology and Practice. Mike has presented on medication management, point of care technology, and mobile computing and networking.

 Representative Engagements
  • Developed the vision for a closed loop medication technology and process improvement strategy. Combined interviews with hospital leadership and staff with existing knowledge of pharmacy automation and nursing technologies to develop a roadmap for the organization, based on institution-specific goals and workflow.
  • Mike served as project manager on a multidisciplinary initiative to develop “envisioning” methodology to assist hospital and health systems in identifying priorities for analytics software. This methodology guides hospital leadership teams through a series of analytical and creative brainstorming activities to prioritize uses of analytics solutions based on health system operating objectives. 
  • Served as the guiding force on a multidisciplinary steering committee focused on process improvement.
  • Manage a variety of IT and Pharmacy projects and effectively coordinate Nursing, Pharmacy, IT, and executive stakeholders
